I’ll agree with you on points 1 and 2, but as for the case being circumstantial… That honestly depends on the veracity of the confession that was found on him. Meaning to say, unless the evidence was planted, which is possible, it’s trivial to determine that the act happened.

Personally, I just think it’s justified. Brian Thompson was a murderer that would never face consequences, because for some reason, if you murder and torture people by policy and pen, it’s totally legal. That ain’t right, and if we can’t reform the system to bring these murderers to justice… Well… You’re gonna have some vigilantes, and they will be justified in their actions, and they will be celebrated by their peers.

I think you were banned for having an opinion in a thread that asked for it. That this mod decided anyone interacting with that thread at all was grounds for banning, and they will probably feel the same way about this thread.

It doesn’t matter that your opinion was to be as inclusive as possible, and that absolutely nobody objected to it or provided a more inclusive option, you were simply guilty by association.

I would honestly love to see that mod’s opinion on the subject, but that would make them guilty by association as well I suppose.

From my point of view, it seems like the only solution is to move away from corporate social media, and to federated foss platforms that are much harder to stifle on a global stage.

It’ll be interesting to see if the world will shift in response to continued encroachment on liberty, or if we just continue to take it.

I wish I had your optimism. Personally, I feel like the world tends to try to clamp down pretty good on violent activism, and often for understandable reasons. I had hoped this time was different, that this time it was a uniting sentiment despite our many other divides in America. Instead, I often heard my conservative colleagues ironically admonish political violence over the past month.

We can’t seem to agree on a single thing, not even to despise the people killing our friends and family, and robbing us blind.

Like blaze said, both of those are great instances. I will say that I think dbzero’s admin, db0 of course, is more active in the fediverse community, and I tend to find myself agreeing with most of their decisions and stances.

Also, recently db0 has been pushing forward with a lot of initiatives towards user/community feedback and governance, which is refreshing to see. To me, it means they are willing to allow others to hold them ethically accountable, and actively pushing for community mechanisms to allow for that.
