Right? What was that? I still can’t put my finger on it. 3 others with me all felt the same way, we were flabbergasted when we heard it was such a bit. It just felt so awkward and weird but not on a fun Cohen brothers way or something.

Yeah I could see folks really disliking his comedy
Bravo lol
Ha at least it was two (highly coordinated) people!
When you’re a petulant billionaire you think you can do these things effectively.
He made a lot of critical errors because he doesn’t understand that for a sock puppet to be effective in the long run, it has to do 3 things:
it has to post regularly
it has to post differently than you do. If it disagrees with you broadly that’s even better.
It can only show up in your defense at critical moments and with almost visible hesitancy e.g. “I am a huge critic of Musk, especially on [issue A], but on this [Issue B] I actually think he makes a salient point.”
You get the most use out of sock puppets by letting them moderate your position to make it more palatable to the public without actually having to moderate your position.
Anything less than the 3 above makes it a liability. Especially when you sloppily juggle several.
See I kind of like the slower pace of it all. It makes it more introspective and thoughtful, it gives you a little room to breathe and process and be with the characters more. And with a cast so large you would need that space or they all just kind of get lost in the noise and shuffle. It also more faithfully lines up with the books because of it, all of which are very thoughtful and slow to medium paced for the most part. I will definitely concede the movie does not need to be the book, it can be its own thing. But I at least understand the logic there.
I always use a movie like Rogue One as the example of the opposite. Don’t get me wrong, I love that movie. But I still can’t name any characters from it besides Cassian Andor. And his I remember for obvious reasons.
I am so curious why you don’t like elf! I’m not looking for an argument, that’s just by far the most surprising answer in this thread to me
American Hustle.
I’ve never been so aware that I was watching a movie with actors on set in my life. I was so distracted by the sensation that eventually I completely lost the thread of the plot and wasn’t even sure who was scamming who anymore by the end. Then it went on to the Oscars lmfao.
Luckily Amy Adams won be back over with Arrival!

Insiders, outsiders, everyone knows at this point.
You can’t make these insanely open world games with hyper realistic graphics on a reasonable budget or in a reasonable amount of time. Games take too long and cost too much to make. Too many eggs in the basket.
I remember being struck playing TLOU2 by just how damn long it is. I would’ve been happy with half the playtime and paid the same price.
I have the deepest respect for Woz but yes once in a while jobs had interesting ideas that people that wasn’t possible because he had some engineering sense and understood what was/wasn’t reasonable to ask for in a product (Unfortunately that is not how he behaved with people, hence why he is rightfully remembered as a sociopath of the worst order).
It’s one thing to ask for the impossible because you’re ignorant/arrogant and not considering what is actually feasible. But Jobs’s track record was actually pretty good when it came to calling for things that people were skeptical of yet were absolutely possible, as evidence d by the products they would put to market. The iPod was considered a moonshot at one time.
Good point!
You’re replying as if you’re correct too…? It’s called a disagreement? Christ you’re a hostile one aren’t you
Clearly I’m not the only person who read it that way. No need to single me out.
Appeal to authority isn’t saying something about the quality of the authority, it’s that the quality of the authority has to be considered. There’s a bit of nuance between the two there.
Basically “because they’re in charge/an expert” isn’t a satisfactory answer on its own anymore than “because I said so” is. The context of their leadership/expertise has to be considered before you make the appeal.
This matters when we enter cultural moments like now where, for instance, a large swath of Americans just by default refuse to accept the CDC/FDA/etc. as legitimate authorities. Their politicians told them they can’t be trusted so they internalize appeals to them as built on a lie.
You seriously can’t see how the way you wrote that comment all but explicitly states that the LSD usage was a bad thing?
If that wasn’t your intention you need to critically re-examine how you write.
I’m not fan of Jobs but people are so eager to shit on him and hoist up “poor forgotten Wozniak” that they ignore all the credit and praise Wozniak himself gives Jobs.
Honestly I’m surprised he doesn’t have like five minions doing this for him.
