  • Cooler designs vary and some GPUs may have a mild overclock. So if you wanted a vapor chamber or liquid cooling for your GPU, then it might be worth it to spend extra. Or if you wanted RGB/no RGB. Or maybe you want a white GPU to match your white motherboard.

Dont know if this is still a thing, but the Strix series of cards have/had hand picked chips that are/were guaranteed to overclock better than the average GPU of the same type. But Asus has done a lot of fucked up shit in recent years so I’d advise avoiding that brand.

Honestly, though. It doesn’t really matter what GPU you get. They all generally can reach the same clock speeds, regardless of whether or not they have a factory OC. Furthermore, it’s not 2010s AMD anymore; even on the cheapest cards, the coolers are designed to adequately cool the GPU.

    Personally I just buy whatever’s affordable/available.

  • Thank you. But yes it gets tiring constantly getting berated for still using Windows. I’m aware that I’m a minority, but it is frustrating that Lemmy users love to attack me for using the OS that has the features I need as my primary platform. Believe me; I’d love to move to Arch full-time, but it’s just not capable enough yet for the high end.

I’ll probably still be using the same hardware 5 years from now, so I have my fingers crossed that Linux will eventually have better support for Nvidia GPUs and HDR displays by then.

Then clearly you haven’t been staying on top of current events and popular gadgets.

    • Neuralink is a brain chip funded by Hitler Elon Musk.
    • Flipper Zero is a tool that lets knowledgeable people hack into and do various things with devices that use radio waves.
    • “Cutting off” is when a driver changes lanes in front of another driver without keeping a safe distance between vehicles.
    • “Flipping off” is when you show someone your middle finger in an insulting manner.
    • Traffic is caused by people in cars who neither understand how to keep a proper following distance, nor how the passing lane works. It can also be a symptom of poor public transport infrastructure.

As far as gender dysphoria… I’ll let someone more experienced in the subject tackle that one for me.
