Let me guess. All you LOSER LIBTARDS are going to want to do UNCONSTITUTIONAL things like Requiring Licenses and Training and Insurance if anyone wants to do our Constitutional Right to DRIVE!
Man…that comment came in hot! It wasn’t until I was halfway through that I realized it was satire.
We’re probably going to start seeing advanced bollards like they have in europe. What a scary time
I don’t want to sound like a conservative, but it’s really not the car that commits mass murder, it’s the driver. Sure it’s a plan to be stricter on car rental agreements or raise blockades where pedestrians walk, but that’s just triage. It’s a symptom of our fucked up society, we should try to fix that for once.
I don’t know why everyone is going on about turo and car rentals. That has no place in this conversation. If someone wants to commit terror with a car they can go to any grocery store parking lot in America and knock an old lady over getting into her car with less effort than it takes to rent a car legally.
Sure it’s the driver. And the drivers need to be more aware of the weapon they are wielding.
Simple example, i am crossing the street and a driver is making a turn. Instead of waiting behind the stop line until pedestrians finish crossing, they start turning their car slowly into the crosswalk just to save less than one second. Almost every driver does it, so you can picture it in your head.
I consider this like someone pointing their weapon at me… I am directly in your crosshairs and your vehicle is inching toward me… Its impatient, aggressive, and totally unecessary.
I mean…yes? What you’re saying isn’t wrong, it’s just completely misplaced in THIS conversation.
We’re talking about a guy who strapped a bomb into his car, and committed an act of terror in a crowded building.
That’s not a driver getting impatient, and not realizing what they’re doing. That’s someone who fully realizes what they’re doing, and what they’re doing is intentionally committing an act of mass murder.
What you’re saying isn’t wrong, but it’s completely irrelevant to THIS conversation.
It speaks to the creeping, unconscious normalization of vehicular violence and aggression that is culturally accepted.
Absolutely. No matter how hard you restrict who can rent/buy a car, malicious people will find a way around that. Less imperialism, inequality, and more comprehensive mental health care will be the key to decreasing the rate at which these awful things happen.
The hope that these people will refocus on CEOs is fading…
