No shit. Nearly every soldier does. Because the military refused to acknowledge its existence at all for decades, and now doesn’t have the funding or willpower to treat everyone.
I thought the primary cause is getting knocked out and suffering the effects after due to factors outside of your control.
That was what I was told with mine from riding a bicycle to work and blacking out for 3 hours after a broken neck and back from a couple of cars crashing right in front of me. I don’t remember from a few minutes before until 3 hours later and had my life altered massively while never recovering physically. I’m a little edgy about bad driving now. Mistakes and stupidity involving driving are very hard for me to forget or let go of in practice. That aspect alone is not something I can control well.
Trying to minimize and call psychology into question here is very much an attempt to invalidate the intended political and moral message this person intended. I do not consider any such information relevant. To me, his message was a clear stand for freedom, justice, and democracy; against corruption.
I was simply commenting on the headline, that a combat soldier with his experience of course would have PTSD, and that support for it is lackluster. I in no way was invalidating anything he said or did, you made that assumption.
