There are two more countries in North America and a bunch more in South America.
How many of them commonly refer to themselves as Americans?
As many as they want to.
So, a number approaching zero? I’d cede the point if people from other parts of the Americas were wanting to be called American. But they overwhelmingly don’t.
All the Caribbean countries are in NA, and Central America.
Not to mention Greenland and France.
