Tangent time! The cats knocked one of my PS5 controllers to the floor for the umpteenth time recently, but this time the R2 trigger stopped working. Apparently, if a button on a PS5 controller stops working, it disables EVERY button from working when you load up a game or app, so even things that don’t need that button won’t work. I really didn’t want to spend $70+ dollars for a new one, so I used a YouTube tutorial to take it apart and see if I could fix it. Nothing looked out of the ordinary, but the R2 trigger still refused to work. After taking it almost all the way apart, unplugging and replugging every tiny ribbon cable in it, it worked! One of the ribbon cables must have been knocked ever so slightly loose. I was shocked I actually managed to fix it since I’m not very mechanically inclined.
Congrats! It feels incredible when a " ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ worth a try!" repair turns out well; I can practically feel your astonished jubilance through the screen.
I’ve got to the point where I have enough experience fixing things that I feel completely confident in my ability to have an initial look at the problem (possibly opening the device), and to know whether I’m likely to break things worse by dabbling. Sometimes this means immediately closing up the device, but increasingly often I feel comfortable taking a crack at the problem, and sometimes it even works!
Congrats) there are also spare parts for ps5 controller on AliExpress, also there’s replicas of ps4 and ps5 controllers, ps4 goes for around 10$ and ps5 for around 40$ but be wary, there’s look alike replicas for ps5 controllers that is actually ps4 replicas hardware wise going for around 15-20$
Yeah, I was prepared to replace a part if needed, but since nothing looked obviously wrong I was afraid it was something beyond my meager ability to repair. I’m wary of third party controllers from bad experiences in the past and am willing to pay the extra for official.
I actually do have two of those for my Switch since my pro controller got stick drift, but after I modded my Switch I was able to just connect them directly instead. My PS5 controllers are the best ones I have.
Yeah, you’re right about buying real one, i just thinking about buying a spare one myself and 70-80$ for a controller is a lil big for me, i mean i bought ps5 slim digital for 390$, so as far as I’ve seen the best bang for the buck i can have is ps4 controllers but they’re only work with ps4 games on ps5 sadly

After doing some research, the best choice is to buy couple gamepad adapters like these https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter/

8bitdo in general is a good stuff. I’m about to order a few spare controllers from them for multi-player stuff.
