I understand that you find it infuriating, but it’s not something completely uncommon, even in high end projects :/
Does anyone have the template? Asking for a friend
Uh what? I don’t think “a few Europeans on discord” is any representative way. Although I think we have a bigger west east decide (sometimes even per country), but in Western (or northern or even southern) Europe that’s definitely more accepted than in the US.
And European representative surveys have shown trump would have lost like 80:20 here.
I don’t see why the concept should be unethical.
In practice, of course it is insanely unethical as the algorithms are designed to maximize view time which leads to algorithmic radicalization and hate spreading more quickly, but the concept of an algorithm knowing and learning what you like and selecting for you itself isn’t unethical.
China propaganda machine goes brrrr
The way people really suddenly think oh yeah China is just a good country like a European democracy where you can live well is flabbergasting. Of course a dictatorship with massive censorship and suppression of minorities has mostly positive comments.
And of course, many people that aren’t part of a harassed minority or politically active against the rulers aren’t saying horrible stuff against them (which wouldn’t be seen anyway).
He’s not a pollster. He’s an aggregator; that’s something very different. He uses many other people’s polls to weight them into one aggregation.
The person didn’t have any git repository; probably a new programmer that didn’t know how version control works and just clicked discard without understanding what that means in this situation
I love how well the PolyMC -> PrismLauncher transition went. It’s great that the asshole owning it didn’t just spew transphobic hate, but also removed the contribution rights to all other people, leading them to immediately flock to an alternative.
You work in the US, right?
I’m so sure that this would be absolutely illegal in the EU. Privacy laws are rather strict here and I can’t imagine that it would be legal in any way to say that you’re doing an anonymous survey if it isn’t actually anonymous.
Oh my god, this is just too funny.
