Until late 2023 the hoster of one of our customers used Gentoo on its web and DB servers. I was surprised when i found out. They switched everything to docker later and i have no idea what it is now.

Honestly, I know what the intention was, but the first makes me feel manipulated and angry right away, as it implies I want to prevent anything and that there is a future. It’s so unnatural and loaded.

many years ago, i used a linux software called “motion” to use a v4l webcam to capture when my carnivorous plants or something near them moves. it worked very well. hope it helps. good luck.
