Oh yeah I kinda missed your last point. Sorry 🙂

How hard is it to grasp that I don’t want Apple doing anything in my cellphone I didn’t explicitely consent to?
I don’t care what technology they develop, or whether they’re capable of applying it correctly: the point is, I don’t want it on my phone in the first place, anymore than I want them to setup camp in my living room to take notes on what I’m doing in my house.
My phone, my property, and Apple - or anybody else - is not welcome on my property.
It’s not data harvesting if it works as claimed. The data is sent encrypted and not decrypted by the remote system performing the analysis.
What if I don’t want Apple looking at my photos in any way, shape or form?’
I don’t want Apple exflitrating my photos.
I don’t want Apple planting their robotic minion on my device to process my photos.
I don’t want my OS doing stuff I didn’t tell it to do. Apple has no business analyzing any of my data.
Knowing you have another half century left
I hate to break it to you, but that’s unlikely.
When you’re 50 in the US, you have a little less than 30 springs left on average. a few more if you live in a country with a functional healthcare system.
Think about it: when you turn 50, you’ll only get to say “summer is coming” 30 times. Merry Chrismas or Happy New Year to your family 30 times. Or “I’ll do it next year” 30 times. And when you’re 50, you know 30 years pass quickly.
And that’s if the big C or COVID or something equally stupid doesn’t get you first.
To the OP: enjoy your youth while you can. It’ll be over before you know it. Trust me on this one.
I match your desired timeline and I’d take yours any day.
When you get to 50, you’ll understand.
My neighbor’s teenage son spends less time than Elon Musk on social media.
A case that’s a giant living hinge. Nice!
assisted living facilities
Aka retirement homes.
Aka exploitation hospices when for-profits manage them.
My Dad withered in one of them - Catholic-run, too - for a few months until my siblings and I realized he wasn’t fed properly, cared for properly, and the retirement home franchisee was spending the absolute minimum on him in order to keep him alive and paying rent but not a cent more.
Ascension’s data breach is probably the least egregious thing about that company.
State pension plans, disability benefits, education… Those are things that concern people who aren’t working class, that the state can provide less of, and that working people have to contribute more heavily to, because the rich don’t.
Ergo, everybody is impacted when the rich don’t contribute to the society they are part of.
Not to nitpick, but tax evasion hurts everybody, not just the working class.
Actually it’s an indication of how desperate Americans are, or how stupid they are. Because nobody with good prospects in life and a working brain votes for Trump.
Probably a combination of both…
I wonder when the magards will realize they’ve been played for the fools they are. It would be funny - and a little bit reassuring - if they massively turned against their racehorse before Jan 20…
The diagram is missing “Tax evasion”.
Or is it part of the “How the rich stay rich” diagram?
Just read whatever you find anywhere and leave out the opinionated bits.
In other words, you can safely assume the hows, whens, wheres and to a certain extent the whys are accurate and not made up, and anything else - particularly whether he was right or wrong, the bits about whether his victim was right or wrong, whether the cops are lying, whether the McD employee is evil, whether Mangione should be freed or fried… is all a bunch of ultra-biased hogwash, regardless of the bias.
Who cares if he, or an AI, or a ghostwriter, or even a random internet troll wrote it: he owns it. He hasn’t made any attempt to distance himself from the comment. That’s the important thing.
