My M3 MacBook air isn’t supported?

No, the thing is, I never even mentioned Linux because I paid for Netflix, knowing it won’t work on it. My problem is that even on supposedly “supported” platforms like my M3 MacBook air, I’m still not getting 4k.

It’s an unmodified, unfiddled with, bog standard MacBook air. If that isn’t “supported” or “trusted” hardware I don’t know what is…

And if we’re talking hardware capabilities, this thing can play multiple 8k streams at the same time without even warming up so… I highly doubt it’s a hardware capability issue.

Precisely, it’s never marketed as a TV-only service anywhere so I have the full right to complain when I’m getting screwed over.

Here’s the thing though, even if you’re right, I shouldn’t have to call support to get the resolution I’m already paying for. I pay extra for 4k, what my screen is, pixel density, etc shouldn’t matter. I am paying for 4k, I should get 4k.

No, I don’t have a tv… Nor do I have any intention of buying one…

“It’s just like that” isn’t good enough. Again, I’m paying more for 4k. There were no disclaimers that it only works on TVs or what I’d have to do to get it to work on my "unmodified* Mac… I expected to have issues on Linux but not being able to play 4k on my Mac is way too much for me…

It’ll be the moment my replacement drive arrives… I managed to image something from the dying old boot drive… But I’m honestly expecting to have to reinstall… Which is hella annoying but it’s what I get for not imaging sooner.

I have no issue with paying for services and software in general. If the service provides me with what I expect from it. For eg, I can very easily pirate games but choose to buy a lot of them, especially indie games on steam because steam offers and has offered me an excellent service for years…

But when 🏴‍☠️ becomes more convenient, easier and can provide a better experience for less effort is the moment when I stop paying… I’m not gonna pay for the privilege of maybe, if the fcking stars align getting permission to watch 4k. I pay for 4k, you give it to me or I stop paying, simple as that.

I’m no stranger to 🏴‍☠️. I have the entire *arr stack and jellyfin setup on my server… Unfortunately it’s dead atm (waiting for a replacement drive). I just wanted to try the other side for once while waiting… Yep, not making that mistake again.

I honestly think that their 4k premium plan is a scam. I pay more for 4k but can’t use said 4k… SO THEN WHY EVEN OFFER IT

No, no, it straight up did not work with airplay, I couldn’t get 4k on the internal screen of the macbook.
