Could be one specific task or just in general.
Music. That is all
Music, and light dancing. Sometimes air drums.
Podcasts and audio books.
Focusing on all your senses and experiencing them stronger.
That’s why I prefer to clean barefoot.
i like to think how i also benefit from this work.
or sometimes, just tough it out and say to myself “i need to get this done”
I narrate what I’m doing in a voiceover.
I calling it “talking to myself” and do it constantly. Scares the animals off when I’m hiking, even though I mutter quietly.
Oh, no muttering here. I go full-on announcer voiceover mode when I’m alone. And sometimes people show up while I’m doing it and I don’t notice so they get it full blast.
Drugs!
Make it a game.
You can do things like, I will be able to finish vacuuming this room before the battery dies.
I’ll finish loading the dishwasher before the clock strikes the whole hour.
I’ll be back inside from putting the rubbish out before this song is finished.
That’s how you do it! Gamify all the things. Got through my customer service years doing that.
Freaks me out how much you can get done doing exactly as you say. I often think, “That only took 45 seconds?!”
Time yourself to see if you can get faster.
When I’m walking a long way somewhere reasonably flat I like trying to see how many steps I can go with my eyes closed.
(Hopefully obvious, not in roadways or on crowded walkways)
Relatedly trying to pedal the least amount of pedals possible on a bike route you frequent.
