    As I understand it, some social media has algorithms which will kick in if your post contains certain “bad words”

    This may cause your post to be removed in the worst case, or simply quietly deprioritised so that it doesn’t get as many views. And so because of this, people have developed a habit of censoring such words.

    The poster realises it’s still obvious what the word is, and that’s absolutely intended. They aren’t trying to hide it from viewers - they are hiding it from the algorithm.

      Censoring ourselves for algorithms is robotic. Conforming our behavior and words to participate on corporate owned socials teaches Orwellian compliance.
