I like the idea. I think I’ll tie some pressure-activated mines to myself next time I go for a walk in a high-traffic area.

Should bikes be covered in explosive reactive armor?

    Some sources say yes.

Ah Mutually Assured Destruction, if it works for the world’s superpowers it should work for us cyclists.

Ehhhhh…the difference is that the US and Russia were never particularly suicidal in the way bicyclists are.

Aren’t all the lard asses driving everywhere technically the more suicidal ones?..like statistically / numbers-wise?

I’m very clearly talking about short term behaviors like driving the wrong way down a street without lights wearing all black at night.

          Obviously.

And I say obviously because you also knew this, you’re just making a bad faith response because no bicyclist has ever had a good response to “but 80% of bikers completely ignore laws in a very dangerous (to them, pedestrians) way”

No, you very clearly have a bug up your ass. Cycling? ISN’T DANGEROUS. Even in the city, cycling is a net positive to life expectancy. The more you cycle, the longer you live. That seems to piss you off for some reason. Well, if you’re that sort of person: good!

Cycling isn’t dangerous? Then what is this entire thread about? Can I just refer any biker wanting to improve road safety back to you as a source that changes aren’t needed? Like seriously what are you even talking about? I provided a pretty clear risk-seeking behavior example that I see multiple times per week, and your response is that doing cardio is healthy? Are you ok?

What’s the fucking difference if you’re killing yourself long term or short term, the end result is the same.

Ermmmm…doesn’t that logic indicate we should all kill ourselves right now to save the hassle? I’m not shooting down the idea, I just think user jerkface should try first and let us know if it was worth it.

What I find interesting about this comment is that despite living in a fairly dense area, I don’t hear these complaints from pedestrians. Not that there aren’t deaths, to be clear, it’s just that with pedestrians I hear “slower speeds”, “traffic calming”, “better visibility”.

From bicyclists I hear “fuck, you want me to put a light on my bike? why don’t you put a light on your car motherfucker?” (Actual lemmy thread from 1-2 months ago, paraphrased to represent the actual vitriol involved).

Yes please. I just watched Furiosa last night for the first time and I loved it so much. Even if you don’t like the story the stunt work is nuts!

furiosa was awful. And this is probably the reason:

Jackson said that Furiosa “leans much more heavily [than Fury Road] on visual effects” and that Miller “completely embraced the idea that CG is the way to go to build worlds and do whatever we need to do in post”.

You can clearly tell the difference between the real stunts, of which there are a ton, and the CG stuff.

yes, and that’s the problem. We shouldn’t be able to do that.

There was plenty of CG in Fury Road too. I mean it was a 3D movie. I just think the people doing stunts for these movies and for John wick are amazing and make it worth the watch even if you hate the story, which I did not.

I may be a bit biased. I wanted to be a stuntman since I was a little boy.
